Ps Wayne Watson grew up in a small Western Southland town called Orepuki, becoming a part of the church in the revival days, as his father brought him and his brothers and sisters to church. During these early days he was exposed to and saw many miraculous healings and events, which were clearly supernatural.Ps Nicky was the daughter of an alcoholic father which brought much tension in her home, and after being told about and attending ‘Healing meetings’ which were being held in her home town of Arrowtown, (planted out of the Orepuki church) and her friends at school were going too, gave her heart to the Lord and began to attend the newly formed church which in latter years has become City Impact Church in Queenstown.
Nicky moved to Riverton through her nursing career and soon met Wayne who was farming at Orepuki, at the local New Life Church and they were married in 1985. The birth of their daughter, a son soon followed then two more daughters, before a tragic farm accident claimed Jason. This was one of many difficult circumstances that both Wayne and Nicky had to journey through during which time two more daughters were added to their extending family. It was during these difficult times that their faith grew stronger and together they grew strong in their convictions that God is greater than your circumstances and ‘When I am weak, HE is strong”.
During their many years in service for the Lord they have been heavily involved in church planting in Te Anau, Invercargill and Tonga, as well as regular duties at home base in Sunday School, leading cell groups, worship team and preaching.
Wayne and Nicky Watson became Pastors in 1999 under Ps Peter and Lareen Driscoll, who then moved on a year later leaving Ps Wayne and Nicky as Senior ministers of the Southlife Community Church in Orepuki.
Ps Wayne and Nicky move powerfully in prophetic and worship ministries, and have also experienced many supernatural encounters in God, which in turn have lead to many others receiving and experiencing the miraculous healings and manifestations of God.
Ps Wayne and Nicky’s one desire is that people everywhere will actually have a real heart encounter with Jesus, and go on to grow and develop this relationship.
